I am heavily influenced by 19th century landscape painting, and practice techniques rooted in the Hudson River School tradition. I prefer longer plein air sessions, and usually over multiple days. In the studio I synthesize my plein air work with memories and imagination. I attempt to capture an ideal of a place, and seek out vistas that have a sentimental quality to them. Working with the NYC Watershed project has allowed me, a life-long city dweller, to explore the landscapes which surround and provide for the city I call home.
